Reverend_Rob's blogSacramento law enforcement officers are not the only ones trained to use their Tasers in non lethal situations. William Lewis was tased by an off duty Houston, Texas police officer as he attempted to leave The Women’s Hospital with his new born daughter. Officer D.M. Boling who was off duty but working security for the hospital was called to the scene when the parents attempted to leave the hospital allegedly without filling out the required paperwork. There is no indication the father had committed any crimes or that the officer properly identified himself. The Sacramento Police seem to be lacking in some basic law enforcement training. We have an agency that has spent millions of dollars so their officers can have access to email in their patrol cars for both official and personal uses, along with other high tech toys but can’t respond to an emailed crime report. How do I know this? Many times people will type ".com" as part of the domain name, and, of course, those emails are routed to me as I maintain SACPD.com. I also receive emails from people attempting to report crimes – sometimes very serious crimes – against both people and property. Yesterday I wrote an entry entitled “Police Officers Using Citizens as Human Shields Out of Stupidity”. If you haven’t yet read that post it is about how officers are trained to put their safety above the well being of those they are stopping for traffic violations. The title may have come across a bit outrageous, but that was my intention. This is an issue that is completely overlooked by the general public, and when spoken about by LEO almost never is citizen’s safety taken into consideration. It is always about officers putting themselves in harms way to “protect the public”, not the reality of the situation, which is officers are putting citizens at risk over simple traffic violations. The Merced Sun-Star ran a story today about a California Highway Patrol officer who escaped injury on Monday when a tractor-trailer sideswiped his patrol car while writing a speeding ticket. It is unfortunate that officers are injured while doing their job to keep our roads safe, but reading between the lines of the article it is clear that officers are trained to put their lives above those they are suppose to be protecting. If you have ever watched an episode of Cops, you have probably seen a police officer using When a Sacramento Police Officer or Sheriff Officer brutalizes a citizen, there is a major problem with the way the incident is handled. Most citizens are fearful of even reporting such incidents out of fear of further brutality, so typically such situations go unreported and uninvestigated, leaving the officer on the street to continue his despicable and irrational behavior. This fear is of course good for the departments involved because it keeps the reported police brutality statistics low. The Los Angeles Police Department has unveiled a new flashlight designed specifically for their department by southern California based Pelican Products. Over $1,000,000 has been spent to date for the procurement of this new tool. The amazing fact about this flashlight is that the design was prompted by the need to protect civilians from overzealous police officers who, in the past, have used them to beat the citizens they are charged with protecting. Police Chief William J. Bratton of the LAPD really believes that this new tool will help protect us all from the protectors. Since 2002 there have been over 50 incidents in which the department’s previous flashlight, a 13 inch long metal cased model, was used in attacks on citizens. Recently a $450,000 award was paid to beating victim Stanley Miller. In a highly publicized case that was caught on camera by television news crews, Mr. Miller was held down by officers while being struck 11 times with an officer’s flashlight as punishment for attempting to flee. The officers involved were not prosecuted for their crimes. Sacramento Police brutality and misconduct is nothing new as I said in earlier entries. I ran across this report issued by Amnesty International that was published back in 1999 and thought I would post it for all to see. I am very aware of the brutality inflicted by the SacPD and have never seen this report before it was forwarded to me by a member. When I use the term police I need to clarify that I am not only talking about the police department. I am referring to law enforcement in general, and this includes the Sheriff's office, Police department and even District Attorneys and Assistant District Attorneys. Many people don't know, but they are police officers and carry firearms and badges. It is amazing how many people in positions of power know about the corruption and brutality, yet it continues.... "In March 1999 Amnesty International wrote to the Sacramento County authorities, calling on them to ban the use of a four-point restraint chair in Sacramento County Jail following reports of more than a dozen cases over two years involving the torture and ill-treatment of jail detainees strapped into the chair by Sacramento sheriff's deputies. Cases include a woman held naked and hooded in the chair in full view of male guards for more than 8 hours and detainees threatened with electro-shocks while strapped into the chair [11]. The chair was used to punish inmates for mildly challenging behaviour or for complaining about their treatment; in one case a man was strapped for five hours in the chair for asking for his lawyer. No response has been received from the authorities to Amnesty International's letters of concern. The chair remains in use in the jail although the Sheriff has reportedly tightened its procedures. Other cases of torture or ill-treatment of suspects held in the restraint chair have been reported across the USA." The rest of the report can be found on AI's website at California: Update on Police Brutality The site wide contextual search provided in conjunction with Google is now online. It may take a bit longer for all content to be indexed however the search is fully functional. If you have been to this site previously I’m sure you have noticed some major changes over the last week. This domain has been sitting dormant for quite some time, and I have recently taken on the task of building it out to be a useful resource for the public. We must not stop until the gangs running our streets are taken out of power. This includes all the thugs putting our lives and the lives of our families at risk. Homeland security has done little of nothing to secure us from the terrorist element working here within our country, the organized gang wearing badges. We need officers that are willing to do more than chase an auto thief around the valley in the hopes of getting good press for the department or making it onto the latest episode of Cops. We need officers with the guts to take a stand when the criminal element is working from within. |
